Bhutanese landscape with prayer flags

Why Bhutan?

Gross National Happiness as a national value. One of the safest countries in Asia. English-medium instruction in higher education. A small, welcoming international student community.

Universities & Programs

Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) and its colleges, Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), Norbuling Rigter College, and select private institutions.

Cost of Living

Realistic monthly budget for accommodation, food, and transport in Thimphu — significantly lower than Australian or UK student cities. We can give you an itemised projection.

Visa & permits

What you need to study in Bhutan

International students require a student visa coordinated through the recognised Bhutanese institution. A route permit is required for travel beyond Thimphu and Paro. CrossPoint coordinates the documentation, and supports you with your sponsor declaration and proof of admission.

Cultural orientation

You won’t arrive alone

We provide a pre-arrival pack covering language basics (Dzongkha greetings, Bhutanese etiquette), accommodation, transport from Paro International Airport, and your first-week essentials. We also pair you with a buddy from a previous cohort wherever possible.
